Custom Doors & Entry Ways

NEWLY DESIGNED DOORS FOR HISTORIC CAROUSEL BUILDING - Story City, Iowa

Story City’s carousel is one of only 100 wooden antique carousels still functioning today. The building itself underwent a complete renovation in 2019/2020 with newly designed entry doors as the focal point. An additional set of doors complete the octagon shaped structure, facing the tennis courts and Broad Street, allowing greater visibility, enhanced ventilation, and more natural light to the 1913 carousel. The building will continue to protect the attraction, while showcasing it to all traveling into the community.

The design of the four identical pairs of 6 ’ x 8’ mahogany doors, incorporate large glass panels to allow for as much natural light as possible. The row of 6 small panes across the top are a nod to the original doors. Initially housed in a circus tent, the beautiful new structure mimics that magical feeling with all four sets of doors wide open.
